On our way to the beach, our friend suggested that we call ahead and order some sandwiches from Big Joe's Subs. Boy, was I glad we did. We ordered two Italian Subs and a Chicken Salad Sub, all 8 inch. They cost $5.79 each. ALL ITALIAN: GENOA, MORTADELLA, CAPICOLLA, PROVOLONE. Of course you tell them what extras you want on them. Same with the Chicken Salad. When we arrived the small shop it had maybe 8 booths and a waiting line to pay for the take outs. The lady at the cash register gave me some good hearted ribbing for paying for the sandwiches with my Tampa Bay Rays debit card, they are Red Sox fans, booooo. But it was all good humor. Once we got to the beach, (New Smyrna beach is in my mind one of the nicest beaches in Florida), we were treated to some great sandwiches. All were loaded with meats and they all hit the spot, excellent!!! This will be a regular stop for us when visiting New Smyrna beach! GO RAYS!!

One of my favorite restaurant s ever. Great food. Great prices. My favorite is the tuna. I am not sure what they do to ot but it is amazing. The subs are as long as my arm. They really cater to my young daughter who they will gladly make special orders for. This place is the definition of consistency. I have been going for 20 years and never received a bad meal. Looking forward to the next 20.

I absolutely love everything about this place! The prices are really good and the food is amazing. I've only been here a few times and everytime I've had excellent customer service. Now anytime i go to new smyrna i make sure to stop by.

Big Joe's Subs is THE PLACE for hoagies in New Symrna Beach. Literally everything I have had on their extensive menu is more than wonderful. My favorite is a Turkey Hoagie with a sweet tea. They just don't make places like this anymore.

Locals frequent this Shop! Good.... Large Subs. Service is not fast but, efficient! Only been there once, so much to choose from. I will go back to try something different, maybe spaghetti with a side salad!?

Cool little joint with friendly service. Seating is very limited but it's a warm inviting space. Upon their recommendation we tried the cheese steaks which were very, very good. Served with provolone, shredded beef cooked in the flattop and sautéed onions and green peppers. The bread was exceptionally good. The kids shared a chicken tender meal. The traders were awesome served with home made honey mustard. The breaking on the tenders was very thick and tasted like grandmas fried chicken. We had sides or fries, onion rings, and mushrooms. All were good but nothing exceptional. My kids did enjoy rocking out to the 80's mix on the sound system. It was so much food we couldn't finish any of it. And we are eaters. Tons of food for a great price.

Excellent food! Parking in rear is convenient. They make their own iced tea, which is the best! Great place to get your food for the beach! I will def go back!

Yes, the prices are much lower than anyone could possibly dream, and you get that nice home cooked flavor as they sheet grill everything right up in front of you. They have a diverse menu of options and combinations for their sandwiches, and breakfast is also available. The staff were nice enough, but they spend the majority of their time with their backs to the customers at the grill. If you aren't a regular, you don't feel particularly welcomed as if you attempt to engage the cashier in conversation, she pretty much looks right through you. However, I dislike any place that "invites" single diners to join them at the counter during certain times of day. The space between the service counter and the booths are very narrow, meaning you do get bumped from time to time by people trying to squeak past to the cashier which is in the back of the restaurant's dining room. There is a secondary entrance from the parking lot out back, making it exceptionally convenient for those grabbing their meals to go, but the pick up area is at the same counter space single diners are expected to sit. I had the sausage and meatball sub, and there wasn't anything particularly outstanding about it. We grabbed out sandwiches to go, and they were cold by the time we got home ten minutes later. I had higher expectations based on the reviews, but as a local I'm disappointed.

The subs were okay, nothing great or to write home about. Similar to a Jersey Mikes. But the thing I didn't like, is they do assigned seating and the woman at the counter tells you exactly where to sit. I mean HELLO...it's a free country here!

Big Joe's is like a little restaurant family. It's truly a gem in this town, I've gone in there after having one of the worst days and always leave with a smile. The staff is amazing and the food is even more amazing. You will never be disappointed.

Outstanding subs! We had the #12, genoa, mortadell and ham. Delicious! Also had cheeseburger. It was hand pattied, not a frozen patty. Very good. Reasonably priced. 16" sub was about $7.50. Cheeseburger $3.79.

This is a bold statement but I feel as though after eating burgers my whole life I can make it. Big Joe's Sub's in New Smyrna Beach, Florida has the best hamburger I've ever had. Small hole in the wall. Always busy as far as I've seen. Guys working are friendly without being kiss-asses. The price for the best cheeseburger in the United States: $3.79!!!!!!!! Everything appears to be quality ingredients. I'm super impressed with this place and hope they keep it up for many years. Thanks Big Joe
